I used to service my car in between the 10k Toyota stealership intervals by myself. Used to use Castrol Edge sport 5W-30 but now they changed their oil to their new "Titanium" marketing gimic oil that costs like 70 bucks now compared to when on special the old one used to be around 45...

as far as i remember the last oil that was put into my car was 0w-40 O_O mobile 1.
im pretty sure celica use 5w-30 but yet again the seem to be running very responsive o.o
Btw Phuong, where that mechanic of urs located at o.o i may need to do a Driver shaft change soon and also some other stuff. its better of going to some mechanic that have worked with celica before then to try out a mechanic who havnt.

Drive shaft aint that hard to replace if you have the right tools... Any mechanic should be able to complete this.

You would need to drain your transmission oil out first though and require a socket big enough for the big bolt at the front of the axle, can't remember what that's called... Usually you can then just loosen like the suspension bolts so the rotor is disconnected from it then just pulls out. Sorry if I am using the incorrect terminology here but that's about as simple as that.. Well it was in my old pulsar, assuming that most FWD use the same concept...

My bad, on the Celica there is also a couple of nuts you have to loosen from the transmission as well, jus remembered..

I was quite disapointed myself to see 5-30w go up so much. It can't be THAT much difference between this "platinium" marketing thing. I personally enjoyed the castrol edge products for their price bracket under $50.

Does anyone know of any other good 5-30w oils and rough pricing on it?

Well you are right to a certain extent as I know that some oils that cost twice as much might not always be twice as good haha. There are a few brands which are over $90-$110 for 5 litres which personally I would not be inclined to ever use hahaha

So they might run the oil through a few more paper filters... haha I could do that at home lol.

Honestly speaking... How long can you keep your car for?

Sure synthetic/expensive oils will protect your car in the long run but will you reap the benefits in the duration you own your car? Probably not...
Regular servicing alone with just normal oils like semi synthetic or even the cheaper synthetics is probably already doing heaps for your car. Especially when we need to use premium unleaded in our vehicles it already cleans the engine while we drive it.
After a few years time you are probably going to sell your car anyways and really, Toyota engines are pretty indestructible, other components will fail long before any of the engine components will.

i once almost sold my car... had the carsales up for less than 24hours
almost bought a 2003 honda s2000 or a evo8/9

put too much money on the celica to sell it for less, so i decided to keep it

I would say mine was on the higher end of the market, 10k+ for a 2000 model. But it has 134,000km on it and has always been serviced through Toyota

Its so frustrating having to wait for RWC to be completed hahaha. If it wasn't the holiday season I would have my car by now yay.

in NSW, just need a e-safety slip/certificate aka pink slip...
my mechanic can write up one in no time as he knows there no issues with my car

i bought my 2000 zr for $15,000 cash bone stock (one of the cheapest zr i could find at the time)
had 131,000km on the odo

it has now done almost 195,000km.

you can check here for its history. it should tell you if money is owing or if its been in an accidently before including hail
https://online.revs....revs/public.htm

just put in your rego and chassis.
should it says error or nothing appears, then no accidental history has been recorded on the car
but should it says something, i'd be worried...

i was talking bout the cheap wide body white sx
one of the cheapest zzt231 thats has been sold that ive known
