wow that is really bad... Id try race it at the bolts. Can you get at least few mm more out of it. How much clearance between the strut and bonnet ?

Its not the bonnet I'm worried about its the thread because in that picture they are as tight as they will allow and as you can see there is no thread left to play with because the bolts are barely hanging on

Mine is a 2000 model does that have anything to do with the positioning with the engine?

i had a 2000 model too

i had little thread to play with.
i had 2 different kind of strut bar and both had little thread so i wasnt concerned.

however you with the bar touching the motor... thats a different story
did your bar had any ultra racing stickers on it when you first got it?
i dont see any stickers ATM so im thinking it might not be genuine

Yea it has two on the underside, one saying its for a Celica and the other is the Ultra Racing Logo, I'm assuming you had a gap too? The bar is literally flat no curves in it whatsoever does this sound familiar?

hmmm very strange.. it could be your engine mounting position or the strut is faulty or something else :s

Okay so now this is really embarrassing. What I thought was the underside is the topside and thus meaning I put it on upside down :( after I saw anh's comment it got me thinking then went out to the shed looked at it and laughed! It's now on properly and I have the gap just like in the ebay photo. Can we please delete this post I'm the laughing stock of OzCelica haha

Ordered my strut bar from the RB-Power user on ebay the joint in Malaysia. The ones advised to me. Put my offer in, got accepted, they msg'd me 3 days later saying postage will be delayed due to public holiday in malaysia. Anyway They posted it on the 27th at 5pm, arrived in singapore on the 28ths and cleared customs and was delivered to me by 10am today. 2 days postage time. DHL is amazing!

Anyway, had a chuckle to myself when i got my bar and opened it thinking about earlier events from this post. I even fitted it upside down just to see the effect and yes it touches!

Its a bit of a snug fit, however right side on then slide left side under and bam she is on, suspension bolts are tight and all seems good. Im hoping the Ceika top bolts are longer than stick so i can get some more purchase with the nuts

Howver im happy. Pics to come

I will agree with you, its a pretty easy mistake to make, If the badge/sticker wasnt on the top side of it, youd never know until you heard the racket!

I'm going to pin/sticky this thread, not to embarrass you, but it is good info to not install in upside down. ;)

Edit: CelicaGTSZR19, could you take a pic of the strut bar installed the right way round, and post it up as well.

Putting them together so its easier to differentiate... but tbh, except the gap now, I still can't see obvious differences haha

Very true I guess in my excitement I put it on the wrong way and convinced myself that it was impossible to fit otherwise

I thought this would be a good place to continue on with the discussion of strut bars. Does anyone have a rear one (go's behind back seats)? Is it worth the loss of practicality?

Most likely not. Better off with thicker rear sway bar

Speaking of thicker rear sway bar, I gots one from white line with the associated rear end links. Has anyone ever put one of these on before. A quick glance tells me life would be easier if I dropped the muffler. Is this the case? If so whats the best way to do it?
If anyone has found a guide online it would be great help.
Cheers, Matt

I'm sure that the muffler has to be removed first , and I think there is a guide on newcelica.
Also have you made any progress with the door lock actuator problem?
Cheers,Alan
