Funny switch??.....

Hey can anyone tell me what the little twisty handles do on the inner of both door frames?? they have baffled me!!

They appear to be a weird jap thing.

 

With those belts you could pull them out and they would stay out where you want them. And if you want them tight you push the lever in and it allows them to retract. There are a few other cars i seen this in. 180sx springs to mind. They dont have the switch but need to be undone to retract. F ing crap really

its only a jdm thing. If you look at the door jam where the hinge loop is, there is a oval shaped cover.... on the jdm there is one of these with a strange useless lever thing on it

those handles control the selt belt retracting and locking.

I thought they were to stop the door from being slammed shut.
And being the spring tension a bit right they can slow it down from one that doesn't have one.
Will run a test on my 2 celicas and try and show The difference

^^haha. good theory. let's see how much of a difference it makes

 

fyi - they wont work in an aussie car cause the seat belts are changed and don't have this feature of them
