70 000kms,

white

air con but no sunroof

not a mark anywhere

aside from the pod its stock.

I would be buying it for an investment, to put on blocks and leave it for years. However like I've been saying building a house atm and spending a sum of money on something that's surplus to requirements isn't ideal.

House is more of an investment than a car.....even if it is a Grp A 205.

If you can safely muster the cash for house and car then obviously go both.

If the car is going to push back the production of the house then don't do it.

(Don't forget it's tax time soon)

Oh, and I voted orange peanut..........for me?!? well....I accept you!

At first I really wanted you to buy it, then I thought about it and it may not be a good idea.

Yes because:

-its an awesome car

-history of car

-low kms

-immac

No Because:

-it will be a hard investment, not sure it market wants it that much

-its very niche market

-depends how much you are paying for it

-you can live without it

-you have a monster 205 already

-will take up space

-rubber bits and parts will degrade overtime

If I were to buy an investment car at the moment, it would be a stock s2000 or evo 7/8 (which ever has AYC)

more leaning towards evo's as s2000 have already skyrocketed

Everyone is talking about how good they are out of the box and soon the prices will reflect the demand (evo's are going for pretty decent prices on the market at the moment). they will have popular youtube channels featuring the evo (*cough* DRIVE, Petrolicious etc) then feature some evo obsessed guy with 20 evos. BAM! evo TAX

This is my random guess

HOWEVER!!! (this is the most important part), this is my opinion and life is too short to be listening to other people. do what ever makes you happy, because when we are old and no longer can get an erection, we will regret the things we didn't do :)

Buying of the car won't effect my house at all, it just means I'll have a personal loan (don't worry its an interest free not through a bank situation).

I would build a second shed in the back yard for it and just have garage insurance on it (de register it and leave it for years, 10+

Or maybe on sell it straight away for the right buyer haha

If up front cash is not an issue then go for it.

It's what you want, you have the means. Do it! :)

If it's purely for investment then I would first do a little probability math followed by potential fixing costs if I were you.

I buy and sell stuff as a hobby - done it for years.

One of the biggest traps you can fall into is getting confused between emotional and financial purchases.

I had this when a really cheap 205 came up in Melbourne last year (under $4k). I tried to pretend that I was doing it to make money, but in reality I just wanted one. When you sit down and actually work it out, there are probably many better investments out there for $20k. And if you are truly going to park it in the shed for a prolonged period, it is only going to be a liability to you, not enjoyable.

It also depends what price you are getting it for; if you get it significantly less than market value then I'd get it, clean it up and get some proper photos done and list it for above market value and just sit on it until the right offer comes along..... people love white 205s.

Also, depending on your situation there may be an ethical consideration loaning money off somebody purely to make money from it over a long period when that person could have been making their own returns off investments.

It's an interesting conundrum.

I don't need it obviously, and I don't really have any massive desire to own another one, it's just a good price and perhaps a worthwhile investment.

If I don't chose to purchase it I'm happy to pass on the details to someone who is.

Just buy it, odds are someone on here will buy it an a few years.

Who else better to hold onto one than you.

You know you want to for many reasons so the bias is already there.

Investment point of view - ~$15k (Good price?) you're probably going to spend on the car, that you wont be using + $1000 worth of perishables to get it running 100% again after 10-15 years worth of storage is a waste

$16k put into your house will be probably almost triple in the next 10-15 years, and you get to enjoy what you spent the extra $16k on

If its a good enough buy however, you could just flip it straight away and make 4-5k as people are in the market for them and there are bugger all left/for sale

Ok so I've decided against purchasing it. As an investment money can be better spent elsewhere. If I didn't already have mine I would be all over this and covering it with castrol rally decals haha.

The owner is more keen to sell it to someone who will keep it relatively stock but after its sold he can't do anything.

Here are a couple of pics. Interested parties should contact me and I'll pass their numbers to the owner.

Investigate how much cover Insurance Companies will provide for it, and how much the premium is.

This will give a fair indication of its proper value.

It's worth every cent of what he is asking even now IMO
