I am leaving Telstra to start a real career and my new company is giving me $25k to spend on any car I want for work (new or used) All expenses are paid for including insurance, rego, maintenance and petrol.

what should I get? you can give me funny answers but if you follow up with some serious options that would be great.

I will be travelling with some documents and so it just needs sufficient space for a large bag.

I am not much for a BMW, merc holden, ford, honda

At the moment. realistic options would be:

- 2007 TRD Aurion

- Golf GTI

- Audi A4 wagon or sedan

- and I honestly can't see my self in any other car other than my gt4

You all will be glad to know that I won't be selling the gt4. It will now retire as a daily and is now a week end project car!

shoot away

I like caldina's but would never own one. they are too big for me

I like 86 but could never own one. because they are so slow, overrated and boxer engine...I have driven a lot of them and couldn't see what the hype was about.

MK6 Golf GTi is in your price range (150ish kw)

So is the MK5 Golf R32 (184kw)

It might be a stretch but try looking for an Audi S3 which is the same thing as a MK6 Golf R (189-196kw)

Mk6 Golf GTi Black 2door 2008 model for sale at my work only $16k with 43,000km's on the clock and new timing belt and ABS pump (we put the belt and pump in 2 days ago)

I have an '07 Aurion and I wouldn't buy another car with a 2GR.

Why not a Corolla?

Haha yeah a corolla... 2012 model white manual $13k. 71k klms.
Lol trying to sell mine (company car now) and honestly love it. Sure it's no performance car but it's quiet and reliable and to and from work everyday that's all I want.

Depends on your budget for 30-40k second hand options are pretty good really but if your like me I'd rather something cheap reliable that leaves cash for project cars....

ADM ST185 running Gen 3 3SGTE with GTX2867, Haltech PS1000, Racepak dash, Wilwood 330mm four piston fronts. work CR Kais 17-8. full 3" exhaust. FMIC.

I think a Golf would best suit your style, and would be a solid choice

I was working at a Nissan and Renault dealership for a bit and drove a Renault Megane GT220 Wagon for a while and honestly, I think that car may be my spirit animal. Plenty of get up and go, suspension was fun without being too stiff for daily use (unlike the Renaultsport Megane Hatches with a bit more power), a pleasure to drive and practical.

5 year unlimited km warranty too, so you can pick one up that's a few years old and should be in the price range without worrying too much.

ok after much research, I am thinking

1. 86 reason is because they don't depreciate that fast and because I will get this car allowance every year, I can sell and buy a better car with the allowance + the money I've made from selling.

2. new 2015 corolla, because they fit right into the budget and I will be getting a brand new car.

3. GTI same reason as the 86.

But I wont know until I talk to the accounts guy at work.
