The rear shock absorbers in my st204r are very stiff, and the left one has seized up. The left one must've seized up as soon as I got home, because I noticed the suspension looked a lot lower. How much is the average price for having both rear struts replaced by a mechanic? My mechanic has quoted me $595 for the whole job. Is it safe to drive around with 1 seized shock absorber?

You don't need a new strut. A suspension place can put an insert in them for you (do both rears). Maybe $140 a pair plus 1.5 hours. DONT DRIVE IT,  unless you can slowly limp it to somewhere nearby at 20 kmh

Mind you theres a pair of struts on ebay for 280 new
