hello all
im not exactly a new member per say, i was using this forum when i was searching for a car.
so i finally found a st165 for a good price that wasn't snatched up before i had a chance to look at it. it got it for 2k unlicensed and in average condition.
i spent a month or so getting it to usable condition and got it over the pits.
i just wanted to say thanks to everyone posting on this forum, the info here has been invaluable.

Hello there,

Stunning looking 165 you have there, and for 2k it would've been a sweet, sweet deal. I'm currently looking for one myself that I can restore and modify into a nice daily. Nice to hear you've brought it up to useable condition as it is no doubt a beautiful example. Look forward to seeing more from you and your awesome car. And Welcome!

2k is cheap, nice work. Keen to see what you do with it

thanks for the welcome guys.
2k was cheap for such a uncommon car, but its definitely a fixer upper and i had to drive 2 hours out of Perth with a car trailer to get it. . the previous owner did most of the basic mods already, like intercooler running constantly, 7mgte turbo, and a full exhaust with a aussie dump pipe. my first priority is a ecu to get it running properly in the short term and eventually i want to do 3rd or 4th gen engine swap.
ill start up a topic in projects when i actually get my things together.

It doesn't have bucket-ish seats like the 6th Gen celicas?

Yeah those are 7th gen wheels, they came with the car. Who ever owned this car previously put a bit of effort into mods. The seats are standard, it's just the seat covers that make them look like non bucket seats.

progress is slow :(
I've got two cars that i'm doing up, so the celica is my daily while the skyline is getting finished off. I've just sent my skyline in for a tune today, after its done ill be starting on the celica. so in a month or so ill make a project thread and do a bit of a pic dump.
A meet and greet sound great, let me know if anything comes up. it would be nice to see what other people have done with their cars.
