Hello everyone on OzCelica!

My name is Alex and I've recently bought my first car - a Celica SX, which also happens to be one of my all-time favorite cars. She's a 1996 model, I love her!

I've always wanted one of these awesome motors ever since I was a kid and used to watch the group A rally, and I'm extra stoked to find a large community of fellow fans!

Thanks guys!

I have to do a little work on it to begin with, such as replace the boot gas-struts, get the fog lights operational, replace the bulb in the left-hand brake light and eventually find a remote for the central locking/alarm.
By the way, does the 200 have a third brake light? The guy said he thought it was a reflector, but I'm pretty sure it's a light, though I haven't checked yet. It doesn't work anyway if it is, so that's another little detail.
I don't mind having to do things to it though, it'll be satisfying getting it to its full potential.

Hi and welcome to oz celica,

has the boot totally fallen off the strut body? if so depending on how long it has been off you might want to look at replacing your springs and shocks..maybe to a coilover set up.

if it is not too bad I wouldnt bother replacing unless you are planning on driving it in dusty, muddy, dirty roads.

Personally i think the fog lights are useless, heavy and ugly. The cheapest option would just remove the unit. + weight reduction = 0.0001s faster! ahaha

I have no idea what a left hand brake light is. sorry can't help you there.

and using your key to unlock the car is not that cumbersome. + one less thing on the key ring!

In addition, I am sorry to burst your bubble but the engine in your car is not the same engine in the GT4 models.

The one you are referring to is (in celica lingo) "ST205 gt-four"  they have a "3SGTE" engine which is a 2.0L Turbo + 4WD

You currently own a ST202 with a 5SFE (front wheel drive)

But still its a 2.2L camry engine. and all the low end torque is still fun.

You can get these things performing pretty decent with suspension + Brakes, wheels+tyres, weight reduction, Headers + Exhaust & bracing.

The middle red strip is a brake light. it would be a good idea to fix it

Hi and welcome to oz celica,

Thank you!

has the boot totally fallen off the strut body? if so depending on how long it has been off you might want to look at replacing your springs and shocks..maybe to a coilover set up.

Oh, I meant the gas struts that hold the boot up.

Personally i think the fog lights are useless, heavy and ugly. The cheapest option would just remove the unit. + weight reduction = 0.0001s faster! ahaha

Hmm, I actually think the fog lights are an attractive element to the car (the two centre lights)  :) I only need to replace the bulbs, no big issue there.

There's never really any fog around here but I like having everything work, lol.

I have no idea what a left hand brake light is. sorry can't help you there.

The brake light on the left-hand-side of the car.

and using your key to unlock the car is not that cumbersome. + one less thing on the key ring!

Just a personal preference I guess, I think keyless is neat!

In addition, I am sorry to burst your bubble but the engine in your car is not the same engine in the GT4 models.

I'm sorry.. I'm not quite sure where you got all this from? When I mentioned the rally I merely meant the general appearance of the car :)

The middle red strip is a brake light. it would be a good idea to fix it

Ah cool, I thought as much, thanks mate.

Yeah gotta get some decent wheels, very tempted to get something sporty like these down the line http://www.customwhe...MR122_White.gif

I think they'd suit the car pretty well and work with the white body.

And I've been looking into getting a couple of HID kits for the high-beams, DRLs for the fog light ports (I have a thing for running lights), and/or some projectors for the mains or highs.

Looking at these also http://www.ebay.com/...ahVZpjb&vxp=mtr

It's cool to see so many options available for this car, I didn't realise it was such a favourite for modding, that's very cool!

Has anyone seen any black tinted tail lights for this car?

I really like some of the modifications people here have done, like the re-wiring of the rear lights on this one http://www.ozcelica....st204/?p=295389

And this cool antenna replacement http://www.ozcelica....6-gen/?p=128322

Even have my eyes on putting in a third-party steering wheel.. this is going to be fun :)

Tinting tail lights is possible. The only real tail light option is to go the jdm lights. They look good enough stock.

What size and offset are you looking at?

Don't get HID high beams, only low. See if you can find some JDM projector head lights.

Hmm, is there a specific reason for getting the lows over the highs? Any info about it would be very valuable to me.

I did look around for the JDM projectors on your advice; they look awesome, I'd definitely want to try those out when I have some spare funds.

As for the tail lights, they look great too, cheers :)

HID bulbs aren't great in high beams because of the time it takes for them to get to full brightness. Low beams are always on so that's fine.
