Hi,

There is an issue with my celica. I did a VTTL-I clean n a Throttle body clean the other day. When i finished and took the car for a drive, engine tempreture went up 2 max. scarded as shit as i am, i pulled over to have an inspection of the engine bay. I noticed Collant had been drained out about half way (was pumping itself out), and my air hose that connects to the ECU had not been connected.

So the problems are, engine overheating when driving for about 10mins or so. The engine temperature would be maxed out for about 5 mins then come back to normal.

A new problem now is that the engine is revving itself up to 3k rpm. I dont know why its doing it. The engine seems to keep wanting to suck in air, maybe MAF?.

the Engine RPM drops 2 1k then suddenly up 2 2-3k rpm

I am guessing i had connected the coolant hoses incorrectly, left being on the right and right being on the left.

Apart from that, I dont know whats wrong.

Any information about this is extremely appreciated!!

had a mechanic friend come over. He said that my coolant system had 2 much air, so it was reving to 3k. Ima open it up and see what the results are tomorrow. See if its too much air in the system or a head gasket.

Air in the system can cause overheating and play around with idle, so definitely bleed it first and see if that fixes things.

I dont quite understand which part you are refering to.
However if you have broken a radiator i believe you can get a new one from ebay for about $80 delivered.

you know the hose that connects the coolant top-up bottle to the radiator? (It goes from coolant bottle to right hand side, next to the left head lights)

There is a nipple that the hose connects to. That little nipple thingy has snapped. So the coolant cant go through there anymore

You can buy a screw in fitting, drill and tap the hole from the broken spout to suit then screw in the replacement spout. You will need the correct tap usually a tapered thread and just be careful not to over tighten it or it will crack the tank then you will have no choice but to get a new radiator.

I ended up buying an after market radiator. Works and runs fine (had to bleed and top up about 4L).

however, i am still concern about an issue with the engine.

Now the engine light has come on, saying that there is an issue. The issue is that the idle rev is constant at 1600-1800 RPM. When you drive the car at 40km/h and press down on the clutch, the engine is meant to come back down to 900 rpm. However, the engine does come down to 900, but suddenly wants to go up to 1600-1800 rpm. So there is this kind of surging issue with the car. Right now its drivable, but i am concern that some shit has happened.

Another issue is that when the engine is cold, u need to acutally press on the gas harder above the 1600-1800 rpm limit to acutally move the car forward or reverse.

ive re-check TB gasket and re-cleaned the TB and the VVTL-I OCV section and the filter. Checked for hose leaks and cant find anything. I have also switched MAFs with a friend's corolla sportivo's MAF.

I want to fix this rev issue so i can do cleaner downshifts.

i will be posting pictures tomorrow, sorry busy. One note that i would like to add is that, when i have my Air Con on, the RPM drops down to 1100 rpm when (I think its when the fans turn on the RPM drops) and the switches back to 1600 rpm afterwards

In addition, sometimes when i just start up my car, i can hear air being pulled into the car and the rpm surging; going up and down (like when u are at a red lights and u pressing on the gas to tell the guy next to u that u want to race).

I do think its sometime to do with hoses. however, i am no expect and dont know much about diagnosing my car.

I am just posting as much information so some1 here may tell me WTF is the problem.

Thanks
