Hi All,

I am interested to know if anyone has done valve stem seals on a 3SGE or 3SGTE with the head still on.

I am going to try and avoid removing my head by using a method where you either....

1) pressurise the combustion chamber with air

OR

2) fill the combustion chamber with rope

...both of which stop the valves from dropping in when the retainers are removed.

I am planning on using one of these funky little tools...

https://www.kincrome...ver-and-install

Anyway, just interested to know if anyone has done it.

I will do a photo journal of the job when I get around to doing it.

My personal thoughts are that rope is not the best idea. Too much potential for foreign bodies to end up in the combustion chamber.

Lisle make a pneumatic adapter. You could just as easily make one yourself, potentially even using an old spark plug.

Yeah, the rope worried me a bit too.

I think I will put my compressor to good use.

Yep, did it with the sparkplug adapted to suit an aur comp.

Hi all,

So this job is well and truly underway.

So far, so good.

But last night I hit my first challenge. With the intake valves being on such an angle back towards the manifold, it is VERY hard to get the valve keeper tool lined up and then press down with enough force to compress the valve spring - releasing the retainers.

Same goes for re-install of the retainers too.

All the manifold, vacuum lines etc are in the way.

Stay tuned for updates.
