So i know im going to get told the 2zz-ge motor isnt the best motor to do this with. Or unless i drop 20k into the motor its not going to happen but i was wondering what the max power someone has got out of there zzt231/gts celica. Im wanting to get 9.0:1 pistons, a turbo along side an e85 tune and all the supporting mods to hopefully get somewhere between 400-500hp. Has anyone done anything similar and what power output did you get.

Neil Trama (Neil Trama Engineering) is a guy you want to track down. Building these engines is his forte.

My other [working lol] car is a Renault and over at the other forum they do lots with fast fwd cars.

400-500hp is a lot for one tyre on a FWD car. Just 280hp you would find wonderful.

Lot's of the Renaults get upgraded and there are a few with ~400bhp but they have limited-slip-diffs and very wide tyres. Lots of money also spent on big [Brembo] brakes and suspension - budget the same there as on the engine upgrade itself.

I've been watching Griff down in Tasmania with great interest and have been watching what he's doing:

As a rear-mount-turbo could also work perfectly on a fwd-Celica.

youll get around 400-450hp if you go all the way.

300hp is manageable on the stock engine at 12psi

Thanks guys i went and talked to neil and i decided on the power figure of 300hp with an lsd good brakes and good suspension. My end goal is to be able to go to the track and beat all the gtr's around the circuit.

Well just an LSD might not be enough then.

Nissan have been scaling a lot of their GT-R technology mainstream and you'll need a pretty decent mechanical LSD to be faster than the Nissan Torque Vectoring system as seen here:

The fun is in trying anyway..

unless you have like 500+ hp in a car that weighs sub 800kg like a CRX etc. you wont get close to a skyline. and if its modified your screwed.

everything is against you, FWD, heavy and a lack of power.

with a bit of effort you could hustle stock 86's lol that was the fun part for me, could walk them on the straights (260aw hp ST185)

hmmmmm 1100kg which is kinda light and but certainly not much lighter than a r32. not enough to out weight double the hp and RB26 can make with mild mods.

a worked celica might beat a stock GTR, but i highly doubt any celica can beat a moderately worked GTR.

plus QR is a HP track i think

A gutted Hyundai Excel can beat a Skyline around QR, so don't lose hope just yet.
